Ladybug Silicone Breast Milk Collector (75ml)

The Haakaa Ladybug collects milk that would otherwise be lost during feeding. Fits discreetly inside your bra and is perfect for saving every drop.

Features

  • Pump draws milk out with continuous suction.
  • Ladybug passively collects milk that would otherwise be lost in a nursing pad.
  • Accommodates different breast sizes.
  • Silent, with no cords or batteries required.
  • Easy to use and clean.
  • Made of food-grade silicone.
  • BPA, PVC and phthalate-free.

Directions

Gen 1 Breast Pump:

  1. Sterilise your pump by boiling in water for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Place the pump flange over your nipple – make sure your nipple is centred comfortably in the neck of the pump.
  3. Apply suction – you may need to adjust the position of your pump a couple of times. Once the pump is secure and comfortable, apply suction by squeezing the base of the pump to start the flow of milk.
  4. Once milk begins to flow, simply leave the pump alone to do its thing!
  5. When the pump is full, empty into a safe storage container and reposition.

Tips: Encourage let-down by placing a warm flannel on top of your breast and massaging gently. While your child is feeding, attach your Haakaa pump to the other breast to catch precious milk that would otherwise be lost in a nursing pad.

Ladybug Breast Milk Collector:

  1. Ensure the plug is pushed into the outlet.
  2. Centre the opening over your nipple and gently press down on the back of the Ladybug.
  3. Press to your breast and release to create gentle suction and begin collecting let-down.
  4. The Ladybug should always be worn inside a bra to keep it secure.
  5. Remove the Ladybug regularly to store your breast milk in line with your country’s safe breastmilk storage guidelines. Pull out the plug from the outlet and pour the milk from the outlet into a container before storing.

NOTE: Suction is optional and helps to keep the Ladybug in place in your bra. The Ladybug will only collect milk that would have leaked anyway. It won't draw out any extra milk.

Cleaning & Care

Wash your Haakaa products in warm soapy water (just standard dishwashing liquid, please avoid bleach-based agents or sterilising tablets), then rinse and dry thoroughly. Sterilise in a steam steriliser or boil for 2–3 minutes in a clean pot of water. Do not use a UV steriliser as this may impact the lifespan of your products.

I love my Haakaa! It's so easy to use, to catch my letdown when feeding or to relieve engorgement when my breasts are feeling full.

FAQs

The best way to wash your Ladybug is to use warm, soapy water daily. Directly after use is best, as this means milk is cleaned before it has a chance to dry in place. Although the Ladybug is dishwasher safe, we highly recommend hand washing to ensure it is cleaned thoroughly. You're free to use any gentle, mild detergent/dish soap you prefer. You should not use any detergents or soaps that contain bleach-based agents, as these can reduce the lifespan of your product by causing the materials to break down faster – especially silicone, as it will become sticky and unusable. We recommend only using soft bristle brushes or soft sponges to clean your Ladybug. Do not use hard scourers to scrub; they can scratch the surface. Even just running your fingers over those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies where milk has gone can help lift any stubborn built-up milk.
The Ladybug is designed to collect your natural breastmilk leakage or letdown. It is not intended to draw your milk out like a pump. If you are not collecting as much milk as you hoped, this can be normal and will likely mean your leakage or letdown is not as strong as expected. We recommend speaking to your midwife or lactation consultant if you are concerned about your milk supply. However, it can be handy to note that as your breastfeeding settles into a routine, your breasts will regulate to produce only what is needed, reducing the likelihood of leakage occuring.
Yes, you can. We recommend attaching a Ladybug to the opposite side you are sleeping on. The Ladybug's gentle suction will help to keep it in place, while your bra will add extra security – though if you are a restless sleeper, this may affect how well it stays in place. If you plan on feeding any saved milk, make sure you empty and clean your Ladybug at least every two hours.
Yes, that is what they are designed for! Simply pop your bra on and attach the Ladybug to your breast. The Ladybug is not normally visible under clothes. To attach the Ladybug, close the plug at the top, lightly press the back of the Ladybug, centre the large opening over your nipple, press to your breast, and release your grip. Pop on your bra to keep it in place as you go about your day.
While the Shell and the Ladybug may both look slightly similar, their functions are quite different. The Shell is an adjustable breast pump that lets you actively express milk from your breasts, while the Ladybug is a passive milk collector – that is, it will collect milk that is already leaking from your breasts rather than having it go to waste in a disposable nursing pad or staining your clothes. Which one you get will come down to what you need from it. If you plan to express milk, one of our pumps will be the best option for you. If instead you want to collect leakage and letdown without expressing any more, then the Ladybug is just the thing you need.
