Today we’re here with another one from Lauren & Jules from Baby Food Bible (Instagram: @baby.food.bible). This recipe is a delicious green purée, grabbing all the amazing goodness to be found in kiwifruit, spinach and avocado, and combining them with oats, yoghurt, hemp seeds and breast milk for a truly healthy baby food option. Even better, this is another no-cook recipe! You can continue on with your day while the oats soak, then once they’re done, just blend everything together until you’ve got your smooth purée! Easy, tasty, and packed full of a huge range of vitamins, minerals, fibre, and other essential nutrients, the Green Kiwifruit Purée really is a winner.
Green Kiwifruit Purée
Prep time: Five minutes, plus time to soak oats.
Ingredients:
1 kiwifruit
2 tablespoon fresh or frozen spinach
¼ large ripe avocado
¼ cup rolled oats
¼ cup full-fat Greek yoghurt*
1 teaspoon hemp seeds
⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons breast milk or formula
*For a dairy-free alternative, swap yoghurt for full-fat coconut cream.
Method:
- Soak your oats for a minimum of three hours. Rinse and strain.
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blitz until smooth.
- Add more breast milk or formula to thin out if necessary.
Servings: Makes approximately one cup of purée
Suitable from: Seven months+
Storage: Store the purée in the Haakaa Glass Jar Set in the fridge for up to 48 hours. To freeze smaller portions, store in the Haakaa Silicone Nibble Tray for up to two months. Let each portion thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
